I know, I know, enough of the swimming already. I get it! Let’s have a little talk about this second sport that I know little to nothing about. Biking.

While I feel like a pro on a spin bike and can charge through back-to-back spin classes, flying through the sprints and climbing the most challenging uphills, I have quickly learned that my little fantasy bike world on a stationary bike is very far from the reality from even riding my bike on a trainer, much less on the road. I’m registered for IRONMAN 70.3 Buffalo Springs Lake. How do I put on a swim cap?

3 short weeks ago, training for a Half Ironman was not on my radar. Neither was running a half or full marathon 4 years ago. One might ask how this transpired and I’ll try and make this the short(er) version.

Long before I even wanted to run a 5k (or run at all), I was intrigued by the Ironman, but hating to run made it seem pretty far out of reach. Fast forward to now. I’ve completed 9 half marathons (one on a trail) and am just coming off my first 26.2. Lynette has always run by the mantra that she wanted to go farther, not necessarily faster. I’ve always wanted to just finish! So, while she has a 62 mile trail race under her belt and her eyes set on a 100 miler next year, I wondered to myself (and out loud)…what’s next?!?
